The Style Tournament

Summer has officially begun and it kicked off beautifully with the unexpected balmy weather of the past weekend, long may it continue! Maybe wishful thinking but on a positive note, if the sun does decide to take a little break you've got more time to get your summer wardrobe in check, silver linings and all! The summer line-up is looking jam packed, particularly in the sporting world with both the Cricket and Rugby World Cup and not to mention the perennial Polo Tournaments to sport your Sunday best at. Pimm's & lemonade, G & T's and strawberries & cream are nothing without a dandy outfit. Here's some inspiration towards your summer suiting...

When summer strikes, chinos come into play. Thanks to their fabric, chinos make for a cooler alternative to suit trousers which have a tendency to absorb heat. They will keep you comfortable too and offer a more relaxed and casual vibe. This doesn't mean you can't dress up your top half; match your tie with your chino colour and choose a blazer to compliment. The Sid blazer in moss looks perfect paired with navy chinos and you'll be bang on trend, with moss coloured suits looking to be a hit this season.

However risky they may be, it is completely necessary to dig the whites out for the summer months. After all, there's no other time of the year where it's acceptable to don a pair of white chinos so make the most of it while you can! Pair your whites with a light-weight blazer in a neutral or pastel shade to keep the breeze off your back and coordinate your belt with your shoes. Spot on for summer BBQ's or a day trip to Wimbledon if you're lucky enough to have a ticket, just don't be sitting on the grass or spilling any refreshments on those fresh whites!

A change from a standard white shirt is always welcome in our books. Step out of your comfort zone by popping a little bit of colour through your shirt. Easily done with a multi tonal check, just simply pick out a shade embedded in the pattern and match your shirt to it. For summer, light pastel shades work well with a relaxed open collar to let some air in. The Alfie shirt comes into play nicely here and is available in a choice of colours, including trusty white for those with an aversion to coloured shirts!

One way to get the most out of your suit is mixing and matching, instantly giving you both casual and formal looks by simply just switching up your waistcoat and trousers. You may need to put a little more thought into this one by finding pieces that work well together. A little tip, as most of our blazers have a pocket trim it works to choose a waistcoat in the same colour as this (the Kelly range is a go-to!). You can also match up your waistcoat to the pocket square. As long as you stick to just 3 main colours you'll be good to go! You can read more on how to mix and match here.
