How To Mix & Match Suits

Here at Marc Darcy, we believe in standing out not fitting in and whilst we adore a three-piece matched to perfection, sometimes the occasion calls for something a little bit different. Whether you’re changing up your workwear, heading to an upmarket event or even just running errands, knowing how to mix and match your tailored pieces will leave you with an abundance of outfit choices and safe in the knowledge that you look sartorially stylish.
Now you may not know where to start but we’ve simplified it right here with some inspiration to keep your suit game strong. Spot your MD favourites playing the mix and match game…

Colour Cautious

Delving into mix & match is a great way to jazz up a standard block colour suit. Take our Max suit, for example, a perfect work wear wonder but paired with the Logan waistcoat or blazer you create a completely different look. When choosing a contrasting item to work into your suit, we advise picking out the colours so as not to cause too much of a clash. We’ve picked out the blue and mahogany accents of the Max to select something which not only breaks up the colour but adds a generous pop of pattern. Top Notch!

Perfect your Checks

Although it’s risky, there are some occasions when mixing checks can be pulled off to perfection. Allow us to demonstrate - take our bestselling Dion, add the much-loved DX7/Oak waistcoat and you’ll get a dapper gent worthy look!

Versatile too, this winning combo is not only ideal for weddings but can also be donned to those important events on your social calendar, like Jacob Roberts sporting it at the Soap Awards!

Take a Risk

windowpane suits

For those days when you’re feeling indecisive, why not wear both? Our Magnum suits are in a league of their own and become a definitive duo when paired together. Step out knowing you’re making a bold statement, heads will be turned and that you’re not gonna lose your mates in this one. We’d say that’s winning!  Too much windowpane? Our simple Kelly waistcoat (right) comes to the rescue to break up that pattern for a look just as dapper yet slightly less statement!

The Mix & Match Staple Piece

As you know, we at MD don’t shy away from bold checks so our Kelly waistcoat range is a staple for breaking up those patterns. In a range of colours and double/single breasted options available it won’t be difficult to find the one you’re looking for. See how we’ve styled it with our most daring checks.
