Back to the Office

The time has come where many of us are preparing to return to the workplace after months of WFH. During this lengthy period of lockdown the seasons have transitioned, trends have changed and even your body shape may have shifted slightly! Whether you've been hitting the home workouts, reaching for the biscuit jar more often (we've all done it!) or scraping the barrel for suitable options for the time of year...your workwear wardrobe may be in need of a much needed revamp. Be inspired by fit for purpose pieces which will help you get your mojo back sooner rather than later. Here's how to tackle the 9-5...

Creative offices such as those specialising in design, media and advertising tend to steer towards more of a casual dress code. Generally there are few rules and employees are given the freedom to reflect their creative flair through the way they dress (within reason). For this kind of relaxed environment, seek comfort whilst you can with a pair of smart trainers paired with a bold two piece and plain tee. Alternatively if you've got some client meetings in the calendar which require a certain level of formality, pair your two piece with loafers and a knit polo for ultimate smart casual.

If you work in more of a corporate setting such as accountancy or law, you will be required to suit up for the working week. More stringent dress codes will apply and a tie is guaranteed to be part of it. A traditional blue is a failsafe option which will portray sophistication, class and finesse. Whether it is a navy or more of a sky blue, a blue suit will more than likely hit the mark in terms of pleasing the boss. Team this with a complimentary tie of your choice, a part of the look where you can be a little bit more creative....you can tell a lot about a man by his tie choice! Topped off with a smart pair of brogues or oxfords, a crisp white spread-collar shirt and a coordinating pocket square and you'll be ready to smash those targets.

Somewhere in the middle? The business casual dress code is becoming increasingly popular as many offices adopt more of a relaxed vibe. These kind of looks are geared towards comfort so lose the neckwear and pop open the top button of your shirt. Alternatively, the grandad collar is a less restrictive smart-casual option. What's more, the business casual dress code is a great excuse (not that you need one!) to wear tweed, after all it was originally designed for casual wear. Either break it up with some chinos or be brave and show off your full tweed suit in all its glory.
